Making a Difference in Our Community

One of the truly great things about the Mount Washington Valley is our many non-profits and charities, and the generous community that supports them. The spirit of giving and volunteerism is strong and we are proud to be a part of it.

Below is a list of local non-profits and charities that we currently support or have supported in the past. You will find a little information about each as well as a way to contact them.

  • Angeles and Elves , Conway, NH

    • Provides Christmas gifts to needy children in the valley for the past 25+ years. Over 600 children annually receive Christmas gifts that they would not otherwise have received. Program is currently run by the local Kiwanis. Opportunities to volunteer as team leaders, shoppers, wrappers and cash sponsors.   • Starting Point , Conway, NH

    • Provides support services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Hosts annual fund raiser Boots ‘N Bling and have volunteer opportunities. www.startingpointnh.org. Phone 603-447-2494.

  • Habitat for Humanity , Conway, NH

    • Through volunteerism and community donations the mission for Habitat is build simple, decent, and affordable homes with and for our neighbors in need. Contact www.mwv-habitat.org 603-356-3832

  • Agape Center, Ossipee, NH

    • Located on Rt 16 across from the Pizza Barn in Ossippe, Agape runs a thrift store and food bank. A great place to donate small household items and clothing. 1985 NH-16, Ossipee, NH 603-539-4456

  • Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, Fryeburg, ME

    • Harvest Hills has a thrift store and takes donations and sells nice stuff. Proceeds go to help run the shelter. To adopt a pet or donate, go to www.harvesthills.org or call 207-935-4368

  • End 68 Hours of Hunger, Conway, NH

    • Goal is to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school on Friday and the free breakfast they receive in school on Monday.   • Upper Saco Valley Land Trust , Conway, NH

    • Preserving Land for Community Benefit. Find out how you and help www.usvlt.org

  • Knights of Columbus Food Drive, North Conway, NH

    • Annual and Bi-annual food drives. Watch local news to find out when drives are held.

  • Vaughn Community Services, North Conway, NH

    • Beginning as a mission of the First Church of Christ, Congressional in North Conway they operate a food pantry and Vaughn Center Family Child Care. 2493 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, NH

  • Madison Church Food Pantry , Madison, NH

    • Accepts donations. 53 Conway Rd., Madison, NH 603-367-4705

  • St Vincent DePaul Thrift Store, 153 Grafton St., Berlin, NH

    • Affectionately know to the locals as “the east side mall” there are plenty of bargains available. Furniture, smalls, jewelry and clothing. Always accepting donations and do offer pickup services. 856-767-7391

  • Gibson Center, North Conway, NH

    • Center for senior services. Offers programs that enable seniors to live independently and actively, with purpose and dignity. They operate a thrift store and accept donations and pledges. Volunteer opportunities for Meals-on-Wheels program. www.gibsoncenter.org

  • Move for Hunger (Nationwide)

    • Moving companies like The Country Picker offer their customers a food donation box for items the customer doesn’t plan to move. The box(s) are then donated to local Food Pantries

  • Mountain Top Music Center, Conway, NH

    • They are a nonprofit community music school, performance venue, and concert presenter. They use music to build community through group study and performance. For information on volunteer opportunities and performance venue go to www.mountaintopmusic.org

  • Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation, Conway, NH

    • Great local foundation that provides supplemental financial assistance and other resources to cancer patients and their families who are in the MWV and are uninsured. They sponsor several events throughout the year. Learn more about donations and volunteer opportunities: www.jensfriends.org

  • White Mountain Valley Supports Recovery, Conway, NH

    • Offers multiple programs that support advocacy through a broader stage and make continued services available to those struggling with substance use disorder. For more information go to: www.mwvsupportsrevovery.org

  • Memorial Hospital Annual Golf Tournament, North Conway, NH

  • Carroll County RSVP, Conway, NH

    • Is focused on providing meaningful service opportunities for adults aged 50 plus interested in serving the communities of Carroll County. www.carrollcountyrsvp.org

  • Valley Pride Day, Conway NH

    • Valley Pride Day is an annual valley roadside litter clean-up day in the MWV and Western Maine. Best to watch Facebook or local news papers. www.facebook.com/MWVvalleyprideNH.

  • White Mountain Board of Realtors (WMBR) Community Programs

    • Our local Realtors are very community minded. We support their various programs with include the annual Thanksgiving basket program, and annual scholarship program.
